EMF2026: I'm back!

It's EMFCamp time again, and I'm back - with a much more managable project, and some more infrastructure-related bits of work.

Excuse me while I work out how to edit this site again...

The Stickerphone Project

This year I needed a project that was interactive, doesn't need a team of 6 to move it, and can be left to run unattended all camp.

So here's the deal.

I'm installing two phones in public areas on the site, and people are encouraged to cover them in stickers. I want to capture the 2026 sticker vibe in physical form. If you're wandering the site with stickers in your pocket, I want them on the stickerphones!

You'll find one in the bar, and one in the lounge.

MORE STICKERS IS MORE BETTER!

Infrastructure - Null Sector Phone Indication

The DJ Booth in nullsector has a particular telephone related problem, and I'm out to solve it.

It is loud in nullsec, so if the phone rings by the lighting desk you can't hear it. It's a VOIP phone, and while SIP-Enabled ringing indicators do exist they start at £300 (ouch!)

Surely we can do it cheaper than that...

I've thrown together just enough of a SIP client to handle the ringing indication, and put it in a box with a load of LEDs.

It connects to the wifi, registers to the central SIP server, and (when put in a ring group with the nullsec phone) flashes a sign when the phone is ringing.

Problem solved?

This project came up late in the day, but may be expanded for 2028 because tbh it needs more flamethrowers...

Infrastructure - CuTEL network services

I'm building/running a system that will be serving up various network services on the phone system. Stay tuned for details...
